HISTORY

When the daughter of legendary Dallas Cowboy Coach Tom Landry, Lisa Landry Childress, whispered in her daddy’s ear in the late 1980’s that she wanted to see the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) have an official presence in her newly adopted hometown of Austin, little did she know the impact that conversation would have over the next 27 years.

Her father being a man of action, banded together with just a few loyal friends to create a golf tournament that would raise the funds necessary to hire a full time FCA Austin Area Director. Wanting this tournament to be special from the outset, they selected a Two-Man Best Ball low net format, and chose for the golf course the Hill Country private club, Hidden Hills (now Barton Creek Lakeside). Coach Landry became the tournament host, and in 1990 the very first FCA Austin Area Director was hired, Reagan Lambert.
